We started the day off lazy – skipping the community parade – but rallied with afternoon swimming, dinner with the in-laws, and fireworks! The boys were completely worn out by the time we got home (an hour after their summer bedtime.)
So, apparently, Matt decided NOT to blog while I was out of town… and even though I’ve been home since Sunday night, we’ve been busy playing and having fun and I guess we’ve already blown my “blog a day” promise. However, I have been still doing something every day to get us closer to our dream…
- I recently joined a Facebook group called The Escapists. It is a group of folks who are traveling full-time, or hoping to travel full-time like we are, or just following their dreams… and I hope to get a ton of information and learn from them! Definitely file this in LEARN IT.
- I also looked up Spanish immersion classes and other Spanish learning online tools so that we can start our journey to becoming bi-lingual (or at least conversational in another language.) Not sure which we can/should do or what will work best for us. Any suggestions for us?? File in LEARN IT.
- We are getting serious on finding a way to earn income for ourselves. As lucky as we are to both be able to work from home with our current jobs, once we take off on our RTW adventure, this will not be an option. For one, we are pretty much tied to being available for conference calls from 9am – 5pm M-F. It will be pretty difficult to work set hours on a boat in the middle of the ocean. 🙂 Also, we will have to begin homeschooling. Again, being tied to a job during the day will make it much harder to also teach our boys. So, we are trying to figure out which of our (very) limited talents we can use to bring in extra income while we travel. We plan to have enough saved to travel for 3 years… but with a little extra every month, we can extend that for another year or two. File this in SCOUT IT? Not sure… might have to come up with a new step.
In other news…we are FINALLY on our way to getting our home refinanced – it has taken nearly a year and three different attempts, but I think we are finally approved, even though we won’t be able to close until August. It will save us nearly $400/mo which we can put towards debt. This makes us so happy! I pretty much study our budget every day to see how we can get out of debt faster. Constantly trying new scenarios. And this new scenario helps a ton! File in GET RID OF IT.
So that’s the recap for the last week! Please feel free to share suggestions for us on anything we post! Happy 4th of July!
