Buying a Boat - St. Martin - Up the mast!

After YEARS of planning, researching, learning, shopping,ย saving, sailing, and dreaming ofย buying a boat and sailing around the world – the stars have aligned! We found the perfect boat for us.

After YEARS of telling family and friends that one day we will quit our jobs, sell everything we own, buy a boat and sail around the world – one day is now! We found the perfect boat for us – one that we can afford, one that can accommodate our family, one that came with extras we didn’t think we would find, one that was loved by another family just like ours who took their kids on a sailing adventure and who loved her as much as we will.

After YEARS of blogging (some years more consistently than others) about our dream – we get to finally say, “We are doing it!”

We are doing it.

We are buying a boat.

For the next 12 months, we will share our journey of shedding our current life in suburbia – a 3100 sf home on two acres with a pool, two cars, and too many Legos. We will share our fears and triumphs, including learning how to sail, learning to live in a tiny home on the water, and learning to ditch our comfort zone. We will share our thoughts on the naysayers and the cheerleaders. And we will share our tips on how you can do it, too!

After 12 months, stick around and join us as we travel the world.

WE ARE BUYING A BOAT!!

  1. This is so exciting and while boats are not at all my favourite means of transportation your excitement is totally contagious so i’m curious enough to embark on your journey and follow you. My tiny little piece of advice when it comes to the planning etc… don’t overdo it or you’ll soon find 1 million reasons to postpone it. When it feels right go for it, what’s waiting for you will be worth all the troubles you’ll leave behind. In our world everything is done to push you down ‘conformity lane’ yet a life outside it is the only one truly worth living.

    1. Thanks Jameela! We are in the home stretch now… I’m learning how to “go with the flow” – not my virtue as I like to have everything planned, but appreciate the advice! ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to living out of our comfort zone.

  2. Hi Michelle, congratulations! Don’t overthink, plan but be willing to be flexible. Know you won’t get it right all the time, and above all, have a ball! She is a beauty by the way! If ever you find yourself down Florida way let me know and we’ll toast to your adventures!

    1. Thank you Betsi! We are actually picking her up in Fort Lauderdale – where in Florida are you?? I’m always up for a toast. ๐Ÿ™‚
